This Cttee was established in Nov 2010 to create a forum on Private International Law issues raised in the context of Intellectual Property. The importance of this topic has been widely recognized. The Cttee was launched to deal with these issues on a global scale, with the participation of leading experts worldwide. It is intended to promote international cooperation in the cross border aspects of Intellectual Property. The issues covered by the Cttee include jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and the arbitrability of IP disputes. Based on results of projects carried out in around the world, in particular by the American Law Institute, the European Max-Planck Group for Conflict of Laws in Intellectual Property, the Transparency of Japanese Law project and the Joint Japanese-Korean Project, the Cttee aims to draft Guidelines that could be used by national and international lawmakers, as well as in international dispute resolution.
