The fourth edition (2017) of the Gaetano Morelli Lectures will focus on the process of formation and identification of customary international law. It aims at inviting the participants to embark on a journey touching upon diverse conceptions, doctrines and practices, in search of the foundational bases of the international legal experience. In 2017, the Gaetano Morelli Lectures will be held by:

- Luigi Condorelli (Honorary Professor of International Law, University of Geneva)
- Bruno Simma (Judge at the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal; former Judge at the International Court of Justice);
- Michael Wood (Member of the UN International Law Commission).
