Cypriot Branch of the International Law Association (ILA) participation in FREDMUN
Ms Salomi Charalambous, Executive Board Member and Event Manager of the Cypriot Branch of the ILA, will be leading a Cypriot ILA delegation of representatives to the upcoming Model United Nations (MUN) conference organised by Frederick University (FREDMUN), comprised of herself, Mr Alexis Antoniades and Ms Andriani Panayi. This is the first ever MUN conference in Cyprus endorsed by the United Nations. An MUN is an educational simulation, where students and young professionals are given the opportunity to research, negotiate and find answers to pressing global problems. Salomi Charalambous will be representing Hungary in the Council of Europe Committee of Mnisters, which will be discussing the "How the refugee crisis affects trafficking in human beings". Alexis Antoniades has been assigned to represent the Kingdom of Spain in the UN Security Council, with the topic "How to fight terrorism", and Andriani Panayi will participate as a delegate of the Republic of Colombia in the 1st Committee of the UN General Assembly, which will address the issue of "Arms control and disarmament including small arms". The preparation of the Cypriot ILA delegation is already underway and we are wishing them an inspiring participation and challenging, stimulating and fruitful debates during the event. FREDMUN will take place between 18 and 20 November in Nicosia, Cyprus.
