Round up of past events of the ILA Argentine Branch 2014
The last meeting was held on August 26 2014 on the subject of the present Argentine sovereign debt litigation in New York. Speakers were Javier González Fraga, former president of the Argentine Central Bank, Eduardo Conesa, economist formerly with the World Bank and the Interamerican Development Bank and our Chairman, Ricardo Balestra, professor of private international law.
The previous meeting was held on July 16 2014 when Dr. Adalberto Rodríguez Gabarini, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and present chairman of the Argentine Council of Foreign Relations spoke on the ongoing meetings between Christian, Jewish and Muslim world leaders in an effort to bring their flocks together and his report on a recent trip he made to Jerusalem as part of that effort.On June 19 2014 when Mr Lorenzo Dagnino Pastore, former Minister of Economy of Argentina, spoke on the present economic situation of our country in relation to world economy.
On May 27 2014 Eduardo Sadous, former Argentine ambassador to Venezuela, spoke on the present international situation and the position of Argentina on some of the world's problems, in a meeting presided by the president of rther Buenos Aires Bar Association.On April 24 2014 the meeting dealt with the subject of education, comparing the Argentine level of primary education with that of developed countries. Speakers were Miguel Dessein, president of the National Press Association ADEPA and Claudio Escribano, journalist and writer of the editorial page of the daily La Nación, both highly respected personalities in our country.
