John Paul Stevens Lecture featuring Justice Zak Yacoob - 12:00 p.m. MT on Thursday, October 22, 2020

Event Name: John Paul Stevens Lecture featuring Justice Zak Yacoob

Summary of Event: Join the University of Colorado Law School for the ninth annual John Paul Stevens Lecture. Former Justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa, Zak Yacoob, will deliver the lecture virtually at 12:00 p.m. MT on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Justice Yacoob is the first international justice to present the Stevens Lecture.

The Stevens Lecture, sponsored by Colorado Law’s Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law, is free and open to the public. Justice Yacoob will share his thoughts on the role of the courts, social justice and racial equality. His remarks and fireside chat with Professor and Director of the White Center Suzette Malveaux will be followed by a Q&A with Colorado Law students and the broader community.

The Stevens Lecture has welcomed six U.S. Supreme Court justices and other esteemed jurists to Colorado Law since 2011. The Stevens Lecture and the White Center are critical to the law school’s continual efforts to expand public knowledge and informed discussion of the role of the judiciary in the U.S. legal system and society more broadly.
