Sad News: Professor Jerzy Makarczyk passed away on the 30th of July 2025

The Polish Branch with deep sadness bids farewell to the Distinguished Scholar Professor Jerzy Makarczyk, Chairman of the Polish Branch of the International Law Association from 1982 to 1990 and President of the International Law Association from 1989 to 1992, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland from 1989 to 1992, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights from 1992 to 2002 and of the Court of Justice of the European Union from 2004 to 2009, who served science, justice, Polish diplomacy and the International Law Association with his knowledge and dedication.
